Dear Business Leader and Friends of Embry A.M.E. Church:
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ!
Embry African Methodist Episcopal Church continues to be a beacon of light in the Lakeland Community of College Park, Maryland. For over 106 years, we have provided a place of worship and an avenue of outreach to persons with varied needs. We are excited to bring new ministries to the community through our upcoming Narcotics/Alcoholic Anonymous recovery program, as well as new initiatives for youth, which will complement our expanding and successful basketball ministry.
Our Church family is determined to provide greater opportunities than ever before for ministry to the community. We have we have expanded our ministry to address the needs of the growing number of seniors as well as the decreasing number of youth in our congregation and the wider community.
Our Young People’s Department (YPD) has been developing new initiatives to engage the surrounding communities into producing positivity and disbanding recent statistics. However, we are experiencing some difficulty because of our extremely limited space. We are in need of our facility to be handicapped accessible. To this end, we have made the decision to embark upon a project to build handicapped accessible bathrooms and to create additional space for ministry to benefit our congregation and community.
We are therefore commencing a Capital Campaign entitled Vision 2010 to finance an addition to our current facility. We are writing to you in the hope that you will assist us in making our vision for additional ministry space a reality. Biblical history demonstrates that God uses His people across the Kingdom to join together for His will to be accomplished. As pastor of Embry A.M.E. Church, I believe that God has called you to participate with us in our Vision 2010 project by asking you to contribute an amount that is placed on your heart.
Embry A.M.E.’s YPD is calling on the community to assist us obtaining our overall church’s goal which is to raise $100,000 to cover building, equipment, and contractor expenses, etc. by
December 2010. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, WE NEED YOUR HELP. Donations of cash, give-away items, gifts and gift certificates are needed for prizes. All donations are tax-deductible. If you need someone to pick up your donation from your location, please contact us.

We believe in accordance with the Word of God that, “…you have not because you ask not” (James 4:2). Your contribution can be the difference in us meeting our goal. It is our desire to glorify God by building this addition to meet the needs of His people.
If you would like to speak with me, or to arrange a private meeting, I can be reached by telephone at (301) 474-7503 or (301)772-2662. Here at Embry, we firmly believe in Ephesians 3:20, “God is able to do exceeding and abundantly above all that we can think or ask, according to the power that lies within us.”
The success of Embry’s Vision 2010 campaign depends on the whole community working together. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you and your business for considering assisting our church as we strive to grow in our ministry.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Dr. Edna C. Jenkins
